AMERICA/BOLIVIA-XI National Assembly of the Social Pastoral Caritas: the person in the Permanent Mission context

Tuesday, 31 May 2011

Camiri (Agenzia Fides) - The Apostolic Vicariate of Camiri will host the XI National Assembly of Social Pastoral Caritas, which will take place from June 6 to 10. The slogan is: "I came so they might have life and have it more abundantly" (Jn 10:10). The main purpose of the meeting is to develop the theme of the person in the Permanent pastoral Mission context.
In the note Juan Carlos Velasquez, Executive Secretary of the Social Pastoral Caritas sent to Fides, says that work will be carried out on the basis of renewal guidelines and on the basis of the Permanent Mission as the central guide.
In the agenda of the National Assembly the theme of "parish mission" as a major initiative that the Bolivian Episcopal Conference promoted long ago is expected to be discussed, within this project there is an important point, the promotion of Caritas parish as a deacon expression of the parish. "We expect the participation of Bishops and diocesan Caritas responsible to promote, during the days of the meeting in Camiri, the objectives of this Assembly, " said Velasquez.
Among the issues to highlight: the formation on the basis of the Social Doctrine of the Church, the implementation of the campaigns of solidarity of the parish Caritas, the impact on public opinion and strengthening the network of the Social Pastoral Caritas in Bolivia. Faced with these challenges some limitations will be taken into consideration, such as the international cooperation that is now very limited but still open to future possibilities of collaboration with some European Caritas to pursue certain projects.
