Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - On Saturday 21 and Sunday, May 22 the National Day of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle, on "Vocations in mission lands" will be held in Argentina. According to information sent to Fides by the National Directorate of the Pontifical Mission of Argentina, for this occasion two Masses will be celebrated in Buenos Aires in which we pray especially for native vocations. Fr. Osvaldo Leone, National Director of the PMS in Argentina, will celebrate Mass on Saturday 21, a 7pm, in the Sanctuary Eucharist of Blessed Jesus, and Sunday, May 22, at 11:30 am in the parish of Saint Mary of Bethany.
The Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle is one of the four Pontifical Mission Societies, founded to raise the Christian people`s awareness regarding the need to support spiritually and materially the formation of local clergy in the mission Churches and of candidates for priesthood and consecrated life.
The general Secretary of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle, Mgr. Jan Dumon, addressing the PMS in Argentina, wrote: "Thanks be to God so that, especially in Africa, vocations to priesthood and the consecrated life increase steadily year after year. Even in Asia, Oceania and Latin America, young men and women who feel the call to follow Jesus are numerous. It is wonderful to see how this Society, founded by Jeanne Bigard more than a century ago, continues to be a living sign of solidarity and communion among the different local Churches. "
