EUROPE/POLAND - "Worshipping Jesus for 24 hours in the Word": Ecumenical Bible Marathon in Czestochowa

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - The Marathon of the Bible which was held for 24 hours on days 13 -14 May in the church of the Holy Name of Mary in Czestochowa during the III Bible Week: one of initiatives of the Polish Church to thank for the beatification of John Paul II, ends today May 14. For 24 hours the representatives of the Catholic Church (the Bishops and Jan Wątroba and Antoni Dlugosz), representatives of other Christian churches (as Don Miroslaw Drabiuk, the parish priest of the Orthodox parish dedicated to the Miraculous icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa), representatives from the worlds of culture, mass media (including the Catholic Weekly "Niedziela"), teachers, youth, representatives of the consecrated life, members of various Catholic movements and associations of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa, read the texts of Sacred Scripture. "We want to implement this initiative not only to do a marathon of the Bible, we hope it is a true act of worship of Jesus in the Word of God, " Miroslaw Topolski, one of the organizers of this event told Fides.
