AMERICA/BOLIVIA-"How sad it would be if a Church that proclaims the Word of Life remained silent," reprimands Cardinal Terrazas

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Julio Terrazas Sandoval, Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in the celebration on Sunday, May 8 for the Third Anniversary of the Permanent Mission in Bolivia, asked all Catholics to proclaim the word of God with courage and without any fear. "If we listened to the Master, if we really tried to learn from Him as disciples, it would be sad if a Church that proclaims the Word of Life preferred silence, a Church that instead of talking frankly prefers to hide in the temple or at home. You have to know how to proclaim and do it like those who had immediate contact with the Lord, without hesitation, with joy and optimism, " said the Cardinal in his homily of the Mass which he presided at the Cathedral of Cochabamba, and was concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Giambattista Diquattro, and all the Bishops of the ecclesiastical courts of Bolivia.
Cardinal Terrazas appealed to the people of Bolivia and in particular "the faithful believers, so that they proclaim the teachings of the risen Jesus and not to remain in confusion “with so many messages that distort the truth or may indicate the wrong ways."
"This announcement is the resurrection - exclaimed the Cardinal - and we have to announce it without being blindfolded, looking at life beyond the threats, so that no one puts the Lord in the corner and then use him in certain moments of life" . The Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra called on the faithful to go out and speak of the Risen Christ, which reminds us all that our existence does not end in the grave. Despite the Catholic Church offers strong support for missionary children, for the Holy Childhood, "this does not absolve adults from taking on the mission to preach the word of God, despite the threats and signs of death that multiply more and more".
The celebration took place while the 91st Bolivian Assembly of the Episcopate, which started May 5, ends today, May 10. (EC) (Agenzia Fides 05/10/2011)
