AMERICA/ARGENTINA-The young are protagonists in the initiatives of the beatification of John Paul II

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - In most cases it will be young people who will gather for prayer vigils promoted in the Argentinian dioceses waiting for the Mass for the beatification of Pope John Paul II presided over by Benedict XVI in St. Peter's Square. The vigil will begin at 11pm in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires and will finish by watching the broadcast of the beatification, live from the Vatican. At 5.30am the Holy Mass presided by the Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires, Rev. Eduardo Garcia will follow, while at 11.30am it will be the turn of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires and Primate of Argentina, Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, to celebrate the Solemn Mass attended by the Polish community living in Argentina. The homage of the Apostolic Movements to the new Blessed will follow at 12.30.
According to information released by Aica, a number of initiatives across the nation will be held: lectures, photo exhibitions, film screenings on the 27 years of pontificate ... the "Popemobile" used by Pope John Paul II during his two visits to the country in 1982 and 1987 will also be exposed. Among the initiatives related to the beatification, the 37th edition of the International Book Fair of Buenos Aires, will pay tribute to John Paul II Sunday, May 1, in the space dedicated to the young, while May 4 a thanksgiving celebration at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA)will be held, with the showing of films, testimonies and the celebration of the Holy Mass.
