EUROPE / POLAND - Thirty new Polish missionaries leaving for America, Africa and Asia

Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) – On the occasion of the celebrations in honor of St. Adalbert, the patron saint of Poland, and in the joyful context awaiting the beatification of Pope John Paul II, the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, in the presence of the polish Episcopate, blessed and handed the cross to thirty new polish missionaries who will go and preach the Gospel in different parts of the world. According to information sent to Fides by don Tomasz Atlas, National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies in Poland and the Episcopal Delegate for the Missions, the new missionaries received the cross on April 25 - priests, religious and a lay –and had prepared themselves for the mission for nine months, attending the missionary training center in Warsaw and other missionary centers belonging to different religious congregations. Soon the new missionaries will leave for their destinations: Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Jamaica, Canada, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Tanzania and Taiwan.
