ASIA/CHINA - Mandate missionary to catechists and pastoral letter of the Bishop of Beijing for the opening of the evangelization of the Laity

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news" (Rom 10:15) is the theme of the evangelization of the Laity of the Diocese of Beijing, which was opened by Bishop Joseph Li Shan, bishop of the diocese, with a solemn Eucharistic celebration and the missionary mandate to the catechists, April 9. According to information received by Fides, 57 catechists received the Mandate by Bishop Li, in front of thousands of faithful and religious from the congregation of the Diocese of St. Joseph, to the seminarians of the Diocesan Seminary, and 27 concelebrated diocesan priests. Also in his pastoral letter full of biblical references dedicated to the occasion, Bishop Li encouraged the faithful to an active participation in Eucharistic Adoration, the evening prayer every Saturday which is the initiative of the diocese for this special Year. The participants also signed a declaration of commitment to confirm their willingness and dedication to this mission. From April 9, 2011 until 8 April 2012, the diocese of Beijing celebrates the Year of Evangelization of the Lay with the theme "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news" (Rom 10:15) . The aim of the Year is to renew and deepen the faith of the faithful, urging everyone to "give a Bible and evangelization to a person”. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 16/04/2011)
