Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – Last weekend at the national Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) headquarters of Argentina, the National Meeting of the Society of Childhood and Adolescent Missionaries (CAM) took place. Present were many delegates from dioceses around the Country. According to information received by Fides, the theme chosen for the meeting was “United in Jesus, Missionaries for Life”. The main goals for the meeting were as follows: To recognise, coordinate and strengthen the work by CAM at a national level; to determine the role of the animator, offering tools for their integral formation, in this year particularly dedicated to the African continent and care for life; to choose the theme for next year; to work out the details for the First National Meeting of CAM to be held in La Rioja from 27 to 28 August 2011.
The meeting program included a lecture by Prof. Alberto Garcia, who spoke about the reality of Africa, the geography, history and cultural aspects of the African continent, and a lecture by Father Walter Aquino, from the Archdiocese of Resistencia, who explored the theme of life in the document of Aparecida. Fr Aquino, guided by the Gospel, brought the assembly to appreciate the life God gives us and invites us to share. Another period was put aside for sharing the work of each diocese, and considering the relevant strengths and weaknesses. Written reports from CAM 2010 were also distributed. As a challenge, the participants pledged to work more in supporting and training youth workers. The theme for next year is as follows: "With Jesus in our hearts, Africa is our mission.”
According to the statement signed by Sister Marcela, the meeting was a profound experience of the presence of the Lord: of his joy, his serenity, his simplicity, of brotherhood, dedication to formation, of the great confidence to express ourselves, to think and to work, and of great inner freedom to share the beautiful experiences that every diocese has done through CAM.
