AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Catholic Action: 80 years serving evangelisation in all its forms

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – Catholic Action Argentina (CAA), celebrates today, 5 April, its 80 year anniversary in the Country, reaffirming “its continuing commitment to contributing to the common good in concrete and effective service to promote more humane living conditions, working for the integral formation of persons through promoting human and Christian values and developing social leadership.” Currently the CAA is present in all provinces throughout the Country, in 850 parish communities, with 30,000 members, including children, youth and adults. “The great service performed by CAA is evangelisation in all its forms and, consequently, there are many civil and Church movements that have emerged to respond to an increasingly complex range of social needs,” says the note sent to Fides.
CAA “given its priority to eradicating poverty and the integral development of every person,” is promoting a campaign, along with other social and church movements, entitled “Poverty hurts. Building a nation without exclusion”, through which it intends to carry out services in different communities, in addition to their commitment to “placing this cry for justice and fairness that comes from our brothers in need at the top of social and public agenda.” The campaign also aims to take care of life in all its phases,” said Emilio Inzaurraga, CAA President since September 2009.
