Shang Hai (Agenzia Fides) – A meeting on 29 March recalled the 15 year journey of the group for theological formation of the laity in the Diocese of Shang Hai. This journey has demanded strong support from Bishop Alius Jin Lu Xian, the diocese's ninety-year-old Bishop, and from many priests. According to reports from Faith in He Bei, Bishop Jin has also signed the cover of the collection of texts that the lay group put together about the 15 years of theological training, entitled “The Word of God, source of life of the laity”.
The Group was founded by a dozen lay people who met every month to update and improve their theological formation. Thanks to the efforts of the laity and theological assistance by Bishops and priests, the Group now consists of thirty lay people who have theological qualifications. Of note is that there are many people in their twenties among them. To improve their level of knowledge, the Group often calls on theologians from abroad to lecture. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 02/04/2011)
