Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People, which is responsible for overseeing the direction of the Apostolate of the Sea, has launched a campaign of solidarity for the people of the sea affected by the earthquake and tsunami that hit Northern Japan. Bishops, priests, religious and lay people engaged in the Apostolate of the Sea, are invited to make a donation to the special fund of the Apostolate of the Sea, created for the purpose of rehabilitating the fishing communities at the centre of the disaster. The funds collected will be sent directly to the Apostleship of the Sea in Japan. The National Director, Soon-Ho Kim, under the supervision of Bishop Michael Goro Matsuura, is responsible for coordinating this project.
