Monday, 14 March 2011

Caracas (Agenzia Fides) – A new project for the protection of minors in the arena of education began about six months ago in Caracas by the Venezuelan organisation Cecodap, in collaboration with 'Bureau International Catholique de l'Enfance'. The aim is to reduce the incidence of violent situations in the areas of schooling, family and community, through educational activities that provide for a joint collaboration between children and adolescents, teachers, directors and other figures in the school community. During the first six months of project implementation awareness has been raised and tools identified for strategies to prevent violence. Firstly, children and adolescents have been trained to be promoters of treating each other well at school. Cecodap has successfully contacted 27 educational centres and two institutions for the protective programs which will carry out awareness raising activities and promotion of good treatment in their institutions.
