Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - Four years after its creation, the Information System website of the Archdiocese of Mexico (SIAME) has modernised its portal for the benefit of visitors, because every day the number of users was increasing, both in Mexico and abroad. The Office for Social Communications of the Archdiocese of Mexico has succeeded in attracting more and more journalists and writers of various national publications. The new portal has been improved not only with graphics, but in all of the content and new areas that have been designed in accordance with users' interests.

Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, Archbishop of Mexico, has given priority to the pastoral programs related to social communication, and in this sense SIAME is especially grateful for the support of “Union de Voluntades”, the company responsible for the technical updates and modernisation of the website.

With regards information management, the new site has integrated more than two thousand texts, structured and classified into more than 50 categories for improved organisation and searches. In addition, there are over 120 formation documents such as papal documents, prayers, etc.. Sections have been added as the Gospel of the day, the Saints and a dictionary of religious terms.

In terms of multimedia, there are 99 albums with more than 3,500 photographs and audio of Sunday homilies in the Metropolitan Cathedral. There are also videos related to the activities of the Archdiocese of Mexico. Its use for social networking has also been considered. Thus, SIAME has about 1,350 Facebook friends, and about 300 notes have been written. On Flicker there are 79 albums with about 2,211 photos. A YouTube channel for SIAME was created, connected to Twitter, so alerts can be received about important events in the Archdiocese of Mexico. (EC) (Agenzia Fides 03/03/2011)
