EUROPE/ITALY - “Breaking bread for all peoples”: meeting of Missio officers from the PSHC

Wednesday, 23 February 2011

Rome (Fides) – Reflecting on, questioning and addressing the new “lifestyle” that Jesus offers us: this is the objective that is hoped to be achieved at the meeting for Missio officers from the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood (PSHC), from 25 to 27 February in Rome, on the theme, “Breaking bread for all peoples”, taken from the recent World Day of Missions' theme and in view of the National Eucharistic Congress in Ancona. Fr Giulio Albanese opened the meeting with the question: “Breaking bread… and if there is no bread?”. Then there will be a biblical reflection by Emma Gremmo from the Missionary Fraternity Centre in Piombino and, after dinner, a discussion of the activities going on in the dioceses. On Saturday, 26, after a biblical reflection, Fr Piero Masolo and Ilaria Mantegazza, ministers from the Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) in Milan, will reveal their trends. In the afternoon, group work is planned around the theme of the 2011 World Day of Missions and for preparing the promotion material for the 2012 World Youth Day of Missions. The meeting will conclude on Sunday, 27, with the presentation of new PSHC projects, then a summary by Fr Gianni Cesena, National Director of the PMS, and a Mass presided at by Fr Carmelo Sciuto, from the National office for Catechists. The meeting may be followed live online via the PMS' website. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 23/2/2011)
