ASIA/CHINA - Diaconate and priestly ordinations continue in the Chinese Catholic community

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) – Various mainland Chinese Catholic communities continue to celebrate new priestly and diaconate ordinations at this time (see Fides 14/1/2011), according to information 'Faith' in He Bei sends to Fides.
The Diocese of Shan Tou, Guang Dong province, has had the opportunity to welcome its first diocesan priest in ten years. During the solemn celebration held on 8 February, presided at by Mons. Cai Bing Rui, consecrated on 8 May last year with the blessing of the Holy See, three new priests were ordained: one from the Diocese of Shan Tou and two from the Diocese of Min Dong, Fu Jian province. The day after, 9 February, the diocese of Shan Tou held a big celebration for its first ordained priest in ten years. The last one was in 2001.
More than 4,000 faithful attended the ordination of the two diocesan priests from the Diocese of Lin Yi, Shan Dong province, presided at by the diocesan Bishop of the Cathedral on 13 February. 14 priests concelebrated from both that diocese and those surrounding. And another 30 religious sisters participated in the solemn Liturgy.
Bishop Pietro Feng Xin Mao of the Diocese of Jing Xian (today Heng Shui), He Bei province, ordained two deacons yesterday, 22 February. 30 priests concelebrated with Bishop Feng before many of the faithful, among which about 20 religious sisters from the diocesan Congregation of the Missionaries of Our Lady of Good Counsel and 30 seminarians. Bishop Feng urged the deacons to help the Bishop and the priests, aided by the grace of the Holy Spirit, in preaching, in administering the sacraments and in charity, in serving the people of God.
