Monday, 21 February 2011

Roma (Agenzia Fides) – The sisters of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) are very active throughout the world. Part of their work which involves health care for the most disadvantaged people in Africa is particularly developed in Senegal and Ghana. In Ngohé, the eastern region of Diourbel in Senegal, the FMM recently transformed a dispensary, which had existed since 1975, into a obstetrics clinic for the care of pregnant women. In Tatale, a district of the northern region of Ghana, they run the Tatale Health Centre, created as a diocesan project and which was opened in 1994. The sisters serve 24 hours a day, and attend an average of 50-60 people every day. (AP) (21/2/2011 Agenzia Fides)
