VATICAN - Three Founders to be canonised on Day of Missions: Guido Maria Conforti, Luigi Guanella and Bonifacia Rodríguez de Castro

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – In the Consistory Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Palace at midday today (21 Feb.), the Holy Father Benedict XVI presided at an ordinary public consistory for the Canonisation of the following three Blesseds: Guido Maria Conforti (1865-1931), Archbishop of Parma, Founder of the Society of St Francis Xavier for Foreign Missions (Saverian Missionaries); Luigi Guanella (1842-1915), presbyter, Founder of the Congregation of the Servants of Charity and of the Institute of the Daughters of St Mary of Providence; Bonifacia Rodríguez de Castro (1837-1905), virgin, Founder of the Congregation of the Servants of St Joseph. In the course of the Consistory, the Pope decreed that the three Blesseds will join the Communion of Saints on Sunday, 23 October 2011, the World Day of Missions. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 21/2/2011)
