Thursday, 17 February 2011

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – With a shared Eucharist the XXIX Missiology course concluded in Argentina. The closing ceremony took place on 12 February with Mass and with the issuing of certificates to the 14 participants in the parish of St Mary of Bethany, just outside the national headquarters of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS). The Mass was presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires, Bishop Vincent Bokalic, CM, concelebrated by Father Osvaldo Leone, National Director of the PMS in Argentina and other priests. 58 people from various ecclesiastical institutions took part, from Argentina and Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela and Mexico, and missionaries from the Dominican Republic and Nigeria.
The XXIX Missiology Course was organised by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), approved by the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, with the support and commitment of the Episcopal Conference of Argentina, through the Episcopal Commission for Missions.
As indicated in the note sent to Fides by the PMS in Argentina, the course lasted three weeks and has led to the creation of two new workshops: one on “The Magisterium of John Paul II”, presented by Mr Marco Gallo, director of the “John Paul II” professorship at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina; and the second on “Current Challenges of Pastoral Care” by Prof. Juan Pablo Gasme, Professor of Philosophy and Formation majoring in Pastoral Youth Ministry.
