Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – Diverse dioceses on the island of Taiwan are vigorously promoting vocations among youth, says the Vocational Service of the Regional Seminary of Taiwan. According to information gathered by Fides, the Diocese of Tai Nan recently organised an initiative called “Make the Seminary an experience of a lifetime”, which took place from 27 to 29 January at the diocesan Seminary of St Pius X, with the goal “to form and strengthen the life of faith among the young lay faithful.” There were 30 young participants, aged between 18 and 35 years, who went through this life experience with seminarians, spiritual directors of the seminary and the director for promoting vocations in the diocese. According to the impressions gathered after the three days, participants were enthusiastic about the experience, and many said they were willing to return to repeat the experience and even to stay. Another vocational initiative took place in the Diocese of Hsinchu which held its Vocations Camp in the parish of St Paul on 29 January, on the theme of “Liturgy and Vocation”. The 15 young participants were able to follow a short lesson in ongoing formation in the faith. Fr He Yong Guo, spiritual director of the Diocesan Commission for the promotion of vocations, encouraged the youth to address the challenge of a vocation and to take this camping experience as a healthy beginning to their journey to answer the Lord's call.
