Saturday, 22 January 2011

Varsavia (Agenzia Fides) – The development of the initiative known as “Star Singers”, the intensification of formation in the Pontifical Society of St Peter Apostle, the deepening of missionary commitment by the groups of the Living Rosary, the consolidation of cooperation with Caritas and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance in the area of development aid: these are the guidelines resulting from the meeting of Poland's national Missionary Council on 20 January in Warsaw, at the headquarters of the Episcopal Conference. According to information sent to Fides by the national committee of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Poland, the meeting was presided over by Bishop Wiktor Skworc of Tarnow, President of the Episcopal Commission for Missions, and by Father Tomasz Atlas, National Director of PMS in Poland. They are part of the National Missionary Council of the PMS Diocesan Directors, men and women religious responsible for missions in their respective congregations and institutes, and support leaders for the missionaries. At the meeting on 20 January a comprehensive analysis was completed of missionary cooperation in the last decade, in light of the indications contained in Pope John Paul II's Encyclical, “Redemptoris Missio” and the instructions by the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, “Cooperatio Missionalis”, on missionary cooperation.
