Friday, 10 December 2010

Kotri (Agenzia Fides) - The mission of the Camillian Task Force (CTF) continues in Pakistan (see Fides 14/10/2010). “With the help and collaboration of many people of good will we started our ministry of healing by starting a medical camp at Khanpur, Kotri, in the Sindh province,” revealed Brother Mustaq Anjum, a Camillian in Pakistan, to Fides. “From day one we have been working in a tent city where misery reigns. The children are without warm clothes, socks and shoes. Some are sick and others are getting sick because of cold. Most of the patients are women, children and the elderly. We have assisted 296 people. Many of the flood victims had not received medication yet and were happy to receive our service. They are all Muslims. In addition to a doctor and nurses, we are helped by local volunteers. Elsewhere we have started distributing building materials for 26 families. This activity is being carried out in the convent of the Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King.” The mission and the project should be completed by the end of February 2011 and may continue under the guidance of the local Franciscans.
