Tai Yuan (Agenzia Fides) - The priests of the Diocese of Tai Yuan, led by Coadjutor Archbishop Paul Meng Ningyou, consecrated on 16 September with the approval of the Holy See, are intensifying the spiritual journey towards Christmas and developing the major pastoral care themes with a number of initiatives. According to information received by Fides, from 22 to 24 November the diocesan priests will take a pastoral care course for marriage, after the spiritual retreat, to better respond to current social needs. From 30 November to 1 December, about 20 diocesan priests and Bishop Paul Meng Ningyou participated in spiritual reading, discussing a number of topical issues with sisters from the diocesan Congregation of the Sisters of the Missionaries of Our Lady of Sorrows and a group of lay people. Topics included: “the priestly spirituality”, “youth ministry”, “marriage and the family”, “pastoral care and evangelization”. Bishop Meng spoke about the formation of the person and the people who conduct formation training, who “must always make reference to the origin of goodness, who is God.” The sisters presented the history, current events and challenges that are facing their congregation. The older priests shared their experience of twenty years of pastoral care ministry, while the lay faithful spoke of evangelization via the media. Finally, all were unanimous in the conviction that these initiatives will greatly help the development of the Church. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 04/12/2010)
