Tuesday, 23 November 2010

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) – On the Solemnity of Christ the King, Sunday, 21 November, the Diocese of Molegbe officially closed the celebrations held for the first centennial anniversary of its evangelization. According to information from the agency “Dia,” in the diocesan parishes, all regular pastoral activity paused to allow the community to attend the triduum of preparations for the closing celebration. For three days, morning and evening, the Sacrament of Confession was administered. The Solemnity of Christ the King was celebrated with various initiatives: a Mass followed by a Eucharistic Procession along the city streets and a lunch for the poor at the end of three days of fasting. In preparation for the occasion, parish churches in the diocese were repainted and the liturgical garb and sacred vessels were renewed. The parishioners donned robes to celebrate the centennial anniversary, as a sign of the great feast. On this occasion, Bishop Dominique Bulamatari of Molegbe highlighted that his faithful should enter into the second centennial anniversary of evangelization in the Diocese with a particular spirit of holiness, counting on the complete, active participation of each and every one of them. The Diocese of Molegbe has 1,913,000 Catholics from a population of 4,060,000 inhabitants, with 24 parishes and 3 churches, 36 diocesan priests, 13 religious priests, 65 sisters, 21 seminarians, 405 schools, and 75 charitable organizations.
