AMERICA/NICARAGUA - 3,000 youth preaching the Gospel door-to-door for close of Month of the Missions

Saturday, 30 October 2010

Granada (Agenzia Fides) – The Bishop of Granada, Bishop Jorge Solórzano, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Henryk Józef Nowacki, and the clergy of Granada, Rivas, and Boaco, will all be meeting today, October 30, along with thousands of youth from the Diocese of Granada, to celebrate the conclusion of month of missions and to renew our commitment to proclaiming the Gospel.
The program of the closing day of the Month of the Missions, sent to Agenzia Fides, to be held in the town of Diria, has scheduled a meeting in the Diriagen Institute of about 3,000 young people who work in the Diocese of Granada, with the goal of getting them work even harder in evangelizing.
Bishop Solorzano said that "the first missionary who needs to go knocking door to door is the bishop, then each priest in his parish." "The Church must be missionary, to bring the word of encouragement and hope to all people, alongside the laity. Although we also do social work, our main mission is to evangelize," said Bishop.
Bishop Solorzano recalled the Aparecida document, issued after the meeting of Latin American bishops, which states that "the encounter with Christ should give the joy of being disciples of the Lord and being sent with the treasure of Gospel. Being a Christian is not a burden, but a gift: God the Father has blessed us in Jesus Christ his Son, the Savior of the world."
In parishes and churches, chapels and Catholic groups and movements, the closure of the Month for the Missions has renewed the missionary commitment of every Christian in proclaiming the Gospel "door to door" to all the people in their ecclesiastical region. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 10/30/2010)
