Managua (Agenzia Fides) – In Nicaragua, preparations for the missionary month of October have been underway since August 21, date of the first National Meeting of Group Leaders of the Holy Childhood Association, during which relevant issues like the importance of the Pontifical Society of Holy Childhood, the Mission Ad Gentes, and the role of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Nicaragua were addressed. According to information sent to Fides by the National Director of the PMS in Nicaragua, Fr. Rodolfo French Naar, this meeting was attended by 375 people from various dioceses in Nicaragua, who met at the National Seminary of "Our Lady of Fatima," to organize and promote missionary work in the Holy Childhood Association in Nicaragua.
Those who spoke on the issues were missionaries who work with missionary spirit in Nicaragua and in the Ad Gentes Missionary Center in Honduras, coordinated by the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. The meeting was opened by the Archbishop of Managua, Archbishop Leopoldo José Brenes, who with his words encouraged all the participants, inviting them to “move forward and work hard and with love to present children with a living example of Jesus.”
The material for the Holy Childhood Association's activity for the Missionary Month was also presented.
At the closing Mass, Bishop Rene Sandigo of Juigalpa, Chairman of the Missions Committee at the Nicaraguan Bishops' Conference, encouraged everyone to work with missionary awareness and to increase their efforts in the missionary work they carry out with the children. The Bishop also expressed his great joy at the large number of participants and for the interest they had shown. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 29/09/2010)
