ASIA/CHINA - Closing of the Month of the Sacred Heart, Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – According to information received by Fides, the Chinese Catholic world is celebrating the end of the Month of the Sacred Heart with great emphasis on its spiritual meaning, enthusiastically promoting evangelization and vocations.
On the continent, on the eve of the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, the parish of Fu Shun in the Diocese of Liao Ning “sent out” 18 missionary catechists of the parish.
The parish of Da Sun Zhuang in the Diocese of Cang Zhou warmly welcomed Bishop Joseph Li Lian Gui and nine priests. Bishop Li presided over a solemn Mass and a procession of the Sacred Heart, attended by thousands of faithful, consecrating all of China to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Diocese of Tai Yuan concluded the month of the Sacred Heart with a solemn Mass concelebrated by priests 46, with more than 2,000 faithful: the main theme of the celebration was prayer for the mission and for vocations to the priesthood.
Some 50 youth of the St. Paul Group and the Evangelization Team in the parish of Wu Han made a pilgrimage in preparation for the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. 29 priests of the Diocese of Guang Xi, led by Msgr. Tang Yan Quan, lived five days of intense spiritual “recharge” with a retreat dedicated to the Sacred Heart.
Over 500 faithful of the Diocese of Feng Xiang inaugurated a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the gardens of the Cathedral to commemorate this Month of the Sacred Heart in this Year for Priests.
In Taiwan, the Sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus celebrated the month of the Sacred Heart by celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Vows of some of the Sisters, emphasizing prayer for vocations and working for evangelization. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 28/06/2010)
