ASIA/CHINA - Ordination of ten new deacons from 4 dioceses: Shang Hai, Wen Zhou, Tai Zhou and Shan Tou

Shang Hai (Agenzia Fides) – “Pray for vocations incessantly, that the Lord may give us many priests to serve our Church” said Bishop Joseph Xing Wen Zhi, auxiliary of the diocese of Shang Hai, in his homily during Mass attended by hundreds of faithful in Xu Jia Hui Cathedral with the ordination of 10 deacons from She Shan Seminary in the diocese of Shang Hai. According to a report sent to Fides, the Ordination took place on 19 June. About ninety priests from the dioceses of Shang Hai, Wen Zhou, Tai Zhou and Shan Tou hanno concelebrated. The Presentation Sisters, with parents and friends of the new deacons and many faithful took part in the liturgy. The ten new deacons come from the dioceses of Shang Hai (2), Shan Tou (1), Tai Zhou (3) and Wen Zhou (4).
The representative of the new deacons at the end of the Mass thanked the people who had fostered the growth of their vocations and asked for prayers that they may be always ready to respond with determination to the Lord's call: “we will do our best to be worthy of the name of servants of Christ”. Commenting the event one member of the faithful taking part said: “the ordination of 10 new deacons from 4 dioceses is a sign of our communion as communities in Christ and a sign of our belonging to the people of God ”.
