Lin Yi (Agenzia Fides) – An evangeliser is a person at the service of the Word of God, a messenger for the Lord, a witness of Christ, like a father of a family offering love and affection to all, an evangeliser is the servant filled with the power of the Holy Spirit who dedicates himself or herself entirely to evangelisation. This was how Fr Bu Xiang Wu, parish priest at Yi Nan in the diocese Lin Yi , Shan Dong, described the “Model of an Evangeliser ” to 22 evangelisers and about 130 parishioners taking part in the 4th executive Meeting of the Parish Evangelisation Group, held recently. A report sent to Fides said the theme of the meeting was “The mission of evangelisation and being an Evangeliser”. Since every member of the parish is called to be an evangeliser, the 22 who received a special mandate are leaders for evangelisation. One of the 22 said, “when each one of the faithful assumes responsibility for evangelisation, then the Gospel of Love will spread quickly throughout China”. “We have a church in which to gather, a place in which to pray, but we need to intensify our efforts for mission to bring new brothers and sisters to this House of God" says another new evangeliser. During the meeting the participants decided to create a foundation to promote evangelisation. The parish of Yi Nan was first evangelised in 1896.
