Friday, 11 June 2010

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) – Several Chinese seminaries are celebrating the closing days of the Year for Priests in communion with the universal Church, following the Pope's indications. According to information received by Fides, joy and thanksgiving to the Lord have marked the Year for Priests among the future priests of the Chinese mainland.
The seminary in He Bei organized a theatrical representation of biblical texts to highlight the seminarians' gratitude to the Lord for being chosen and also to reaffirm the great value of the priestly vocation. The event highlighted the joy of priestly life starting with the preparation period, i.e. from the seminary.
At the seminary in the Province of Si Chuan, the solemn closing of the Year for Priests took place with the wide participation of priests, seminarians, religious, and lay people from five dioceses in the province. In addition to prayer and the activities during the year, the participants concluded the celebration with nocturnal Adoration and Benediction, after listening to a spiritual meditation on "The Meaning and Value of the Priesthood."
The close of the Year for Priests in the Diocese of Ji Ling was the appropriate occasion to revive the promotion of vocations and the Diocesan Commission for Vocations Ministry announced its Vocations Summer Camp on the theme: "Learning More About Vocations," to be held from July 12 to 18.
