Thursday, 27 May 2010

Ijebuland (Agenzia Fides) – The Catholic Church in Nigeria has always played a key role for local populations. She stands and remains unique in her actions on growth and evangelization of Nigeria's people, using different forms of the apostolate according to needs. In practice, in this country the different ecclesial groups are committed to ensuring that the Word of God is not only an occasion for learning and prayer, but that this bear fruit in people's lives. She also plays an important role in Ijebuland, one of the most remote parts of the country, in the state of Ogun, particularly in areas such as evangelization, inculturation, education, and health services, through the construction of hospitals, clinics, homes/shelters for mothers, and orphanages. In Ijebuland, the Pontifical Mission Societies have been working hard for years and many missionaries have been sent out to the areas most in need, helping to build schools and hospitals, and recently, through the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood Association, many initiatives have been launched for children.
