AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Fr. Osvaldo Leone, National Director of the PMS in Argentina: enthusiasm of youth, “who wish to spread the joy of being missionary disciples of Christ among their peers”

Monday, 24 May 2010

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – Fr. Osvaldo Pablo Leone, National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Argentina, participating in the General Assembly of the PMS held in Rome last week, in an interview with Fides described the work of the PMS in Argentina and the preparation that requires all the different activities promoted by the four Pontifical Societies. Just yesterday, Sunday, May 23, Argentina celebrated the National Day of the Society of St. Peter the Apostle, in favor of "native vocations in mission lands.” The event was prepared in parishes and supported by materials offered on the PMS website.
Fr. Oswald spoke in particular of the different opportunities available to young people engaged in the Pontifical Mission Societies, who have already started meeting to plan the Third National Meeting of Missionary Groups, scheduled from October 9 to 11 in Buenos Aires. "You cannot imagine how many young people are really interested in participating in this meeting," he told Fides. "These young people become missionary disciples. In fact, we thought the slogan 'Disciples Missionaries Here and Beyond Borders,' precisely in order to follow the call of Aparecida," said Fr. Osvaldo. "With this meeting, we hope to renew the spirit of missionary groups who are already committed and want to spread the joy of being missionary disciples of Jesus Christ to other young people. We also launched a website to attract participation in this great ecclesial event." (CE) (Agenzia Fides 05/24/2010)
