AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Expectations for Bolivian President's visit to Pope this May 17

La Paz (Agenzia Fides) – Pope Benedict XVI will receive in an audience at the Vatican, the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, on Monday, May 17, according to information released by the Bishops' Conference of Bolivia. The news was widely reported by all local media. The Foreign Minister of Bolivia, David Choquehuanca, said that President Morales will be received by the Pope during a tour the President is making this month in Europe. He is also visiting Spain, Norway, Finland, and Italy. Choquehuanca explained that the details of the meeting were already agreed upon, that Morales is the first indigenous President to meet with the Supreme Pontiff, and that both parties are interested in talking about various current issues. Morales will be at the Vatican on Monday, May 17, one day prior to attending the Summit of Presidents of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the European Union (LAC-EU Business Summit), scheduled to take place in Madrid, Spain.
