AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Missionary groups in the capital prepare for National Encounter in October

Thursday, 29 April 2010

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – Friday, April 30th at 8:30pm at the Vicariate for Pastoral Ministry (in the neighborhood of Villa Devoto, Buenos Aires), the first preparatory meeting for the III National Meeting of Missionary Groups (3ENGM) will be held. The event is planned for October 9, 10, and 11 in Diocese of San Miguel, with the theme: "Missionary Disciples here and beyond borders." The call is aimed at managing coordinators and representatives of each of the missionary groups from the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires. All the information on 3ENGM will be given on the occasion and there will be discussion of the materials and how to register.
According to information sent to Fides, this initial group meeting was convened by the director of the Archdiocesan Center for Missionary Groups (CAGM), whose objective was always to become a "meeting place for missionary groups in Buenos Aires." The CAGM, founded in 1989 by Father Ignacio Copello (currently an working as an ad gentes missionary sent by the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires to the Diocese of Xai-Xai in Mozambique), during the year organizes a series of activities which vary according to the needs of the various missionary groups in the Archdiocese. For example in 2004, they set up a health stand on the pilgrimage to Lujan, to assist the many pilgrims who came, and since then, it has remained as one of the Center's commitments. With regard to other dioceses, one can contact their local diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS). (CE) (Agenzia Fides 29/04/2010)
