AMERICA/ECUADOR - Ecuadorian Bishops express need for “living in constant conversion along with priests”

Quito (Agenzia Fides) – The Bishops' Conference of Ecuador concluded its semi-annual plenary assembly yesterday, Friday, April 16. The Bishops have issued a note to the press which said they had completed the work of defining the basis for pastoral planning, to continue and renew the comprehensive plan in place. They highlighted the urgency of attention to the family, young people, the poor, and the laity. They also proposed living in constant conversion along with priests.
The note sent to Fides also informs of the participation of the Archbishop of Barranquilla, Colombia, Archbishop Jesús Rubén Salazar Gómez, President of the Colombian Bishops' Conference, and the Archbishop of Maracaibo, Venezuela, Archbishop Ubaldo Ramón Santana Sequera, FMI, President of the Venezuelan Bishops' Conference, who have shared experiences and expectations about the fate of the people of Ecuador and the Church's mission in the present context, in this year that marks the bicentenary of the independence of these countries.
