AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Thousands of faithful throughout the country celebrating Feast of Divine Mercy

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – Organized by the Apostles of Divine Mercy on Sunday, April 11, the second Sunday of Easter, Argentina will host the 15th National “Caravan” of Divine Mercy. Thousands of faithful take part in liturgical celebrations and other events taking place in various cities throughout the country, beginning with Buenos Aires, where at the “Shrine to Merciful Jesus,” pilgrims will be welcomed by the parish priest, Father Gustavo Gallino, who at 3pm will celebrate Mass, followed by the traditional procession through the neighborhood with the image of Divine Mercy, the relic of Saint Faustina, and the Flame of Mercy. In the evening, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, will preside at the Mass. The shrine has been visited by pilgrims since 1964, when it was granted permission to spread devotion to the Divine Mercy. Throughout the day, the faithful will take turns venerating the painting of Jesus, They will be able to go to Confession and profit from the plenary indulgence.
The city of Cordoba is home to the Chapel to St. Anne, a place of worship that serves as a reference point for this feast day. Again, after the morning Mass, the procession will take place. There will also be a great celebration held in the city of San Luis. In the parish of “Jesús de la Divina Misericordia,” the start of the festival is marked by the tolling of bells, followed by a Mass with singing of the Te Deum.
