ASIA/CHINA - Over 4,000 faithful attend Eucharistic Procession at Cathedral of Jin Gang, Diocese of Nan Yang

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) – The Cathedral of Jin Yang, Diocese of Nan Gang, in the Province of He Nan, is intensely living its Lenten journey in communion with the Universal Church. According to reports received by Fides, over 4,000 faithful attended the solemn Eucharistic Procession that took place February 22, Feast of the Chair of St. Peter. After the Eucharistic celebration, the procession of the faithful, who followed the Blessed Sacrament in prayer, traveled 2 kilometers. Accompanying the Eucharist were also young people who carried images of the Apostles. From February 23 to 25, the Cathedral has also organized a Lenten Retreat on God's Word. Over 300 people have been able to attend it, led by Fr. Li Jun, who exhorted the faithful to sanctify their lives, that of their family, and community with their Christian spirit, and to sanctify their relationship with our neighbor. During the retreat, some believers who had been away from the Church and religious practice for years were able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, others told the priests present that they would abandon their habits that do not correspond to the Christian life, for instance gambling and excessive alcohol intake, to give an eloquent testimony to others.
