Rome (Agenzia Fides) - In these past hours the site of the Salesian Congregation - sdb.org – has moved to Web 2.0. A new interface which is a new way of communicating with and linking the Salesian world. This change of the site of the Salesian Congregation, planned for quite some time, is being completed in these days thanks to a continuous process of quality control. As the foundation for this change is the special attention which the Church and the Congregation are giving to the “digital continent,” the sharing of know-how and the promotion of ’”open source”. In fact, the new site has been set up entirely with open and free software. The novelty consists not only in the outward appearance of the “front end”, the interface, but includes also the inner “back end”, the database, totally re-thought and re-made according to the parameters of Web 2.0. Now the site provides a high level of possible interaction by the user as well as new resources, and it will also be capable of accommodating future evolutions of the Internet.
