AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Car accident leads kills Cleric of Saint Viator, wounds two others

Reyes (Agenzia Fides) – On the morning of Saturday, February 20, on the provincial highway Rurrenabaque-Yucumo, two priests and a religious of the Parish of Popoy, who were returning from the funeral of Bishop Roger Aubry in Reyes, were victims of a car accident. The victims were: Father Kepa Plaza, Fr. Luis Trigueros and Brother Felix Moyata, all members of the Clerics of Saint Viator. Fr. Plaza suffered a broken rib and Brother Moyata, the fracture of the clavicle. After being treated in La Paz, Fr. Plaza was released shortly afterwards, while Brother Moyata must undergo an operation for the broken clavicle. Unfortunately, Father Luis Trigueros, Pastor of Popoy-Alto Beni, who had survived the accident, died a few hours later in the hospital.
Father Luis Gonzaga Trigueros Ortega, of Spanish nationality, was born in Palencia (Spain) on June 20, 1956. He made his first vows in 1974 and perpetual vows in 1982, when he began his studies in Comillas, Madrid. He was ordained a priest in 1992. In 1987, he began his missionary work in Chile and from 1990 to 1994 he was part of the Regional Council of the community of Chile. Frrom 1995 to 2001, he was at the School of St. Viator de Ovalle. In 2001, he went to Bolivia, where he worked ever since, as Pastor of the Parish of Popoy, Director of Pope John Paul II Center, and member of the Economic Council of the Vicariate of Reyes. He will be buried at Popoy, a place that, according to all those who knew him, was much loved by him. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 23/02/2010)
