Tai Yuan (Agenzia Fides) – Nothing is more important, urgent, and wonderful than evangelization: this statement of of Pope Benedict XVI was the standard used by the Catholic community of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Tai Yuan, Shan Xi Province, in assessing its work of evangelization carried out in 2009, aiming at improving their efforts in the year 2010. According to information received by Fides, Fr. Ning Meng You, diocesan vicar, presided at the meeting on the analysis of the evangelization effort in 2009, which took place in recent days. The priest said the faith formation that the Cathedral has sought to promote is "not only to improve our Christian life and our personal spiritual growth, but above all to preach the Gospel as best as possible." According to its report, the diocese has promoted 2 Catechism courses in the past year, created a group for preaching the Gospel, strengthened the exchange among the faithful, and organized pilgrimages and spiritual retreats. Also very active in the parish are the couples' groups, the Sunday school, free health care, catechists' activity, catechumenate, and Sacred Scripture courses, thus establishing a good ground for cultivating the fruits of evangelization in 2010.
