AMERICA/HAITI - First water treatment plant installed for IDP camp in the capital

Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Port-au-Prince (Agenzia Fides) – Work continues in Haiti, where people are trying to return to normal life, although more and more of them have left the capital to rebuild their future, moving towards the north and south. These days the Movement of the Struggle Against World Hunger has assembled a water treatment plant and distributed about 8,000 gallons of purified water in the IDP camp in Cite de Soleil, in Port-au-Prince. Now people can have access to drinking water. These are little details, but important ones in the effort to remedy a situation that is still an emergency. In the meantime, Les Cayes awaits the arrival of a VSAT satellite dish, donated to the MLFM from the World Catholic Association for Communications SIGNIS, to ensure communication and internet connection for workers.
