Friday, 8 January 2010

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) – From January 7 to 10, the Prelature of Aiquile will be hosting the first National Congress of the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood Association (HCA), with the main objective of assessing and promoting the missionary vocation of children and adolescents, which is the result of a personal encounter with Jesus. According to Sister Cilenia Rojas, coordinator of the event, "this overall goal requires the sharing of missionary experiences among our children." The slogan of the event is "Let the little children come to me" and its purpose is to ensure that children and adolescents become aware of their role as missionaries in the Church of Bolivia and in each of their parishes.
As part of the program there will be an opportunity for them to "have a mission experience, holding a small mission during an afternoon in different communities," said Sister Cilenia. The Congress is organized by the Department of Missions and the PMS (Pontifical Mission Societies), with the participation of the 18 dioceses around the country. Among the topics that will be discussed: I am important to Jesus; We run to meet Jesus; Finding friends for Jesus, We share the joy of missionary disciples of Jesus; The Ten Commandments of the missionary children accompanied by a song.
The Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood Association (HCA) is present in 150 countries and has activities and training for missionary animation and cooperation. Through the International Secretariat, it supports about 6,000 projects of solidarity that help children of the five continents with the aim of providing them the necessary tools to live a dignified life spiritual and material. The areas of HCA commitments are: pastoral childhood, preschool and school education, Christian and missionary formation and animation, and protection of life. It is estimated that the HCA is helping about 20 million children worldwide. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 08/01/2010)
