AFRICA/ZAMBIA - Jesuits and two Catholic organizations launch campaign against corruption

Friday, 4 December 2009

Lusaka (Agenzia Fides) – A campaign against corruption has been launched in Zambia by the Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection, along with two other Catholic organizations, Caritas Zambia and Civil Society for Poverty Reduction. According to reports from the Jesuit News Around The World, the three institutions involved 16 other civic organizations in a campaign launched six weeks after the Supreme Court acquitted the ex-President Frederick Chiluba from charges of corruption, appropriation of public funds, and abuse office. The campaign will encourage citizens to clean up the country from the "miserable spectacle of injustice and corruption." (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 4/12/2009)
