AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Permanent Mission launched in La Paz today, strong emphasis on formation

Saturday, 28 November 2009

La Paz (Agenzia Fides) – Another city that is entering into the missionary atmosphere being lived across Bolivia is: La Paz. Today, 28 November, it will launch the Mission that will guide the path of the local church for the next two years. As Fr. Mario Valda, Pastoral Vicar of the Archdiocese of La Paz explained, after the launch of the Mission a phase of training has been planned for pastoral workers of the Church. The plan consists of two phases: the first is to train missionaries in a systematic way, then they will in turn train other missionaries in their vicariates. Similar work will be done in the parishes.
This journey begins at the Archdiocesan School of Formation for the Laity, with courses in Christology, ecclesiology and missiology, among others. The second phase aims at forming missionary parish groups and apostolic movements. This is why special attention should be made to the mission during homilies. Also, all parishioners will be asked to devote part of their time to training.
Fr. Valda said that some parishes have prepared formation guides so that believers, in their homes, can reflect on the issues relating to the mission. Similarly, movements can be formed using the materials that allow them to reflect on their mission as part of their celebrations and meetings. As the priest explained, this phase of training is followed by an intense phase of the mission, when the trainees begin their visits to families. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 28/11/2009)
