Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – The annual meeting for National Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies of the 5 countries that make up the “Cono Sur” (Southern Cone) of South America is being held at the PMS headquarters in Buenos Aires. The 5 Directors present are: Fr. Daniel Lagni (Brazil), Fr. Walter Von Holzen (Paraguay), Fr. Osvaldo Leone (Argentina), Fr. Jorge Vega (Chile), and Fr. José Palumbo (Uruguay). The meeting began on October 30 and will conclude November 2.
The National Directors participated in an encounter led by the Department for Mission and Spirituality of the CELAM, October 26-30, to discuss the Continental Mission and Pastoral Conversion, with the proposals made by Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga of Tunja (Colombia) and Fr. Agenor Brighenti, missiologist, professor, and researcher in the Catholic University of Brazil. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 31/10/2009)
