AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Presentation of working document and logo for First Missionary Congress in Diocese of Moron, May 21-23, 2010

Moron (Agenzia Fides) - “Missionary Disciples: You are the light of the world and the salt of the eath.” This will be the theme of the First Missionary Congress of the Diocese of Moron (suffragan of Buenos Aires), which will take place May 21-23, 2010. “We hope it will be a source of inspiration for our Diocese and will encourage everyone to participate,” said Fr. Silvio Rocha, Diocesan Director of the Missionary Animation Team, at the presentation of the working document of the Congress and its logo, both of which are available on the diocesan website.
The document serves as a preparation for the event, which is expected to be “the fruit of contributions from all areas of the Diocese.” In fact, the organizers count on the “previous work of every Congress attendee and of every community, which will in turn contribute to the group workshops and in the conclusions from the Congress.” The logo was also presented, as it is closely linked to the theme of the event. In the center, there is a reference to the earth “it represents the map of the Diocese, with its three sectors: Moron, Hurlingham, and Ituzaingo.” This is the concrete place in which we live, where the Master calls us to be salt.” The various sectors of the Diocese “each have a different color, to symbolize the diversity among them: the different neighborhoods and communities, different lives...but all called to contribute who we are, in this time and place in history.” We are called to be “salt of this earth.” And even in the diversity, “we can live out the great challenge of communion,” the Missionary Animation team of the Diocese of Moron affirms.
Inside the map, there are “a multitude of men and women, representing each one of us – called by Jesus to be missionary disciples.” It is an invitation to all: “laity, seminarians, catechists, religious, young people...,” called to participate “to join together to live in a state of permanent mission.” “Our commitment in this place is to be light for the world, it is the love we radiate.” Thus, “rays of light come forth from the map, shooting out in different directions. The same light has colors that represent the five continents: red (America), green (Africa), yellow (Asia), white (Europe), and blue (Oceania).” On this journey “we are not alone,” “we have Mary, our Mother, Our Lady of the Way, patroness of our diocese,” who “extends her hand towards us, blessing our missionary path.”
Likewise, “the presence of God, represented in the Holy Spirit, also accompanies us,” through a dove that covers the entire drawing. It is “no mere coincidence that the Congress is to be celebrated on the Solemnity of Pentecost, May 21-23, 2010.” In this manner, “God wishes to remind us of his promise to send us the Holy Spirit and give us the light that we need to live out our call.” The document from the members of the Missionary Animation Team concludes with the hope that the Congress next year “will be a new Pentecost for our diocesan Church.” (GT) (Agenzia Fides 13/10/2009)
