AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Preparations underway for Advent Mission in Diocese of Cordoba: “reach out to everyone, especially those farthest away, preaching the Kingdom of God”

Monday, 12 October 2009

Cordoba (Agenzia Fides) – On Saturday, October 10, at the Saint Teresa of Jesus School in Cordoba (Argentina), delegates from parishes, movements, associations, and communities gathered together to work on preparations for the Archdiocesan Advent Mission 2009. As a Letter of Convocation issued by the Archdiocesan Pastoral Ministry Committee reads, the aim of the event is to “reach out to everyone, especially those farthest away, preaching the Kingdom of God” and learning to recognize him in the signs of our times. “This desire to 'reach out to everyone' takes place through various pastoral initiatives. Today, we wish to take another step forward, not any different from the previous ones, but as a result of all that we have been living out and experiencing in our Archdiocesan itinerary.”
The Archdiocesan Pastoral Ministry Committee says that the Advent Mission 2009 is meant to be a missionary activity open to all “during this time close to Christmas, considering the meaning of this feast for our people” and will consist in “going from house to house and presenting the neighbors with a Christmas card.”
Since September, they have been working on “awareness” of the activity in the various parishes, where there have been workshops and information handed out. Before the meeting of the delegates on October 10, in which the formative content was discussed and information on the mission distributed, Archbishop Carlos Nanez invited everyone to take part in the event, in their own neighborhoods.
