ASIA/VIETNAM - Auxiliary of Xuan Loc appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on July 25, 2009, appointed Fr. Thomas Vu Dinh Hieu, Chancellor of the same diocese, as Auxiliary of the Diocese of Xuan Loc (Vietnam), assigning him the Titular See of Bahanna.
Fr. Thomas Vu Dinh Hieu was born on October 30, 1954, in Ninh My, Diocese of Biu Chu. He regularly studied at the Xuan Loc Minor Seminary and in the Saint Pius X Major Seminary in Dalat. As a result of the difficult political situation in the country, he carried out a long pastoral service in the parish of Tan Mai Due (1977-1988) and at the Bishop's Office in Xuan Loc as Secretary of the Bishop, 1988 to 1999. He was ordained a priest on January 22, 1999 for the Diocese of Xuan Loc. He has since ministered as follows: service in the Bishop's Office (1999-2000); studies in Moral Theology at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse (France), obtaining a “Maitrise” in Theology (2000-2006). Since 2006, he has been the Chancellor of the Diocese of Xuan Loc. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 27/7/2009)
