EUROPE/ITALY - Papaboys forum promotes new young opinion movement “Europa Cristiana”

Rome (Fides Service) - Europa Cristiana, a new opinion movement of young Catholics in various countries of Europe who want to help the continent re-discover its Christian identity, will be officially launched on Sunday 30 May in Rome, at 3pm at the Oratorio della Basilica San Giuseppe al Trionfale Opera Don Guanella, 36 Via Savonarola.
According to the programme for the inauguration ceremony, the new opinion movement intends to address political and social themes “in the light of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, in particularly Gaudium et Spes, (Constitution on the Church in the Modern World) in order to help kindle the fire of conscience and faith often dampened by discouragement”.
“Europa Cristiana” opinion movement of evangelisation is a new initiative launched by the organisers of papaboys web site opened by young enthusiastic followers of Pope John Paul II participants in World Youth Days referred to as the Pope’s Youth (papaboys). The movement immediately attracted youngsters who “encouraged by the Pope, see the need to help people discover the Christian roots of Europe”.
“Europa cristiana” will strive to “build a society centred on respect for life, whose economy is based on the culture of sharing and whose central value is the family”. The Movement will operate mainly through the Internet.
