ASIA/THAILAND - Archbishop of Bangkok resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI on 14 May 2009, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Archdiocese of Bangkok (Thailand) presented by Cardinal Michael Michai Kitbunchu, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father appointed Bishop Francis Xavier Kriengsak Kovithavanij, until now Bishop of Nakhon Sawan, as Archbishop of Bangkok (Thailand). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 14/5/2009)
