VATICAN - An Ecumenical Week to remember

Monday, 26 January 2009

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - “Live in love, as Christ loved us” (Eph 5:2). This exhortation of the Apostle Paul, in this year dedicated to him, is directed to each one of us. In taking up our Savior's name, we refer to ourselves as Christians and we are called, according to the invitation made by St. Augustine, to make room for charity (cfr. Ambulate in dilectione, Apostolic Letter of Pope Paul VI issued on December 7, 1965, canceling the excommunication between Rome and Constantinople).
The fact that our brother Bishops of the Fraternity of Saint Pius X (founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre), Bishops - that is to say, successors of the Apostles – reunite themselves to the Successor of Peter in the One Church, is a cause for joy and hope. It is a change in the course of history. Petty political interpretations are left aside and the mercy of God shines forth. This act will serve for the glory of God, the salvation of souls, and as testimony to the world.(Agenzia Fides 26/1/2009)
